Doorway to Nowhere (Paint Me Terrified #2) is coming out later this month, just in time for the Christmas season. In the meantime, here's a sneak preview:
---
Cynthia stumbled out of the nurse’s office. The medicine wasn't helping much, and her head was pounding. She was the third kid to see the nurse with a headache that day. She blinked her eyes several times as she focused on the classroom up ahead. As it came into view, she could see the old brass plate affixed to the wall next to it, with “Room 101” etched into the metal. Her teacher was probably in the middle of a big lecture about polynomials or imaginary numbers. She was going to have to borrow somebody else’s notes after class, she was sure of it.
Cynthia reached out and turned the doorknob, quietly pulling the door open. She blinked her eyes again, thinking that her vision must still be blurred. But there was no mistaking it: her teacher, her classmates, her friends—everyone was gone!
